WELCOME

Medana Bay Marina welcomes you to our facility under development in North Lombok.
We were very happy to be the first privately owned facility to host Sail Indonesia in September 2009 and we are proud to be the Lombok hosts for the fourth year running welcoming Sail Indonesia 2012 / Sail Morotai. (Sail Bunaken ’09, Sail Banda ’10 and Sail Wakatobi Belitung ’11)

Medana Bay Marina has a special license covering six hectares of the bay, issued by the Ministry of Communications (Sea) RI, to develop a marina with up to 200 berths for yachts and ocean tourism development. The construction license was issued in January 2011, when we immediately began excavating the foundations for a hotel and placing orders for an initial floating jetty.

This is an entirely privately owned business and we wish to develop the marina facilities and the surrounding property in a way that blends in with the countryside whilst providing for the needs of yachties and residents and other visitors.

We are developing the property in stages. The marina facilities available this year will include 10 serviced berths alongside a floating jetty linked to the land by bridges for boat supplies by trolley. This comprises two main pontoons of 24m length with space for a further eight boats of 12m to 15m size berthed ‘Med style’ on the 44m cross pontoon. In addition there are 12 mooring buoys in deep water (10m-15m) in the bay and anchorage room for more. There is a timber jetty and dinghy dock immediately in front of Sailfish café and toilets and fresh water shower facilities close by.

As a private facility it is a requirement that all visiting boats berthing, mooring or anchoring and using our jetty and facilities shall pay the fees applicable.

On the landside we have built and operated since late 2011:

  • A two-storey hotel with 17 rooms and great bay views from each terrace or balcony

  • A meeting hall to accommodate up to 250 attendees and adjacent dining area

LOCATION

The mooring basin is centred on 08°21.833’S and 116°07.750’E with an approach transit point almost due north at 08°20.432’S and 116°07.685’E. Please refer to our Sea Chart below.

SEA APPROACH

The approach from the east tracks through 08°20.067’S and 116°08.361’E in deep water to our transit point at 08°20.432’S and 116°07.685’E when it bears south into Medana Bay – sometimes called Teluk Dalem, meaning Deep Bay. If your approach is a little to the north of this track you may be surprised by the depths suddenly becoming shallower from over 20m to just 7m as you pass over some coral. Don’t be alarmed – you do still have 7m of water in this shallow spot.

The approach from the west tracks in north of Gili Air and Gili Trawangan to the same transit point.
